Honey harvest 2014
Honeycomb and two happy little hives. Mom gave most of the honey to to newer hive so that they would have enough honey to survive the winter.
There were at least 9 little squishes on this one tiny section of a yellow squash plant! I couldn’t even get them all in the shot. (Mom’s garden)
Canned cinnamon apple rings, applesauce, and cinnamon applesauce. 1) Lots of apples on on Grandpa’s tree! 2) Pealing and slicing rings. 3) Apples we didn’t even touch! 4) Rings 5) Cinnamon applesauce 6) regular applesauce.
Taming the garden. 1) Tomatoes and you can see the jungle behind them! So much weeding to do but it’s been too hot to take care of it. 2) Finally able to take care of some of the weeds/grass and you can actually see the plants. Tarragon and sage are going nuts and they were new this year.
Pickled Okra- 1) Dill heads 2) Dill seed 3) Okra 4) Finished product.
Unfortunately it didn’t turn out that well. It was very very slimy. The taste was good but the texture wasn’t.
This has nothing to do with gardens but a lot to do with DIY! Power Steering pump replacement! My roommate and I did this almost on our own. My hubby had to help with getting the pulley off and he put the new line on but a couple of girls did a pretty good job! 1) Removing the old one 2) & 3) No wonder this guy wasn’t working anymore, the bearings are TOTALLY chewed up! 4) The official Pulley Puller Pulling tool! So thankful AutoZone loans tools! In the end we fought putting the line back one for 2 days, only to figure out we just needed a whole new one. It was too warped to get it back on.
